The MIRA masks are an example of one of the highest-quality civilian models available. There are other standards the mask has to meet, such as impact protection (the visor,) etc. But to each their own.ĬBRN (Chemicals, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear,) replaced the old term NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical).Ī mask that is CBRN compliant is a high quality one, and means the materials that compose the mask won't degrade under certain chemical weapons (which is a moot point if you don't have a full suit, but it's a standard you want in your mask regardless, IMO) So the seal is composed of a certain type of rubber to meet that standard. Personally, you can't prep for a chemical attack outside your home outside of having a mask for non-skin absorbing toxins. Not a bad item to have, but you need to understand what threats they're good for/preparing for. But you'd have to be wearing them at the time for a chemical attack. Suits will be useful in case of a biological/radiological attack for sure.
